Make Your Own Path

This year the fair was a very fair experience , it wasn't the usual exciting and fun time that I often have each year. This year the fair was a very different. Last night I came home and right when I walked in the door my Mother in-law told me she was considering going to the fair . So being spontaneous and random I thought well that would be great . David has class on Thursday nights so I am usually home bored waiting for him to call or even better walk through the door.
We grabbed our jackets and the umbrella stroller and jumped in the van. JP , Mom , Stratton , and I on our way to phoenix ready to take on the world. JP is Barbara's brother and is 87 years young. He has such a great personality and is very kind hearted. He loves getting out of the house and will go just about anywhere so he doesn't have to stay inside all day and night. He really is a trooper and quite the party animal for his age.
The first 35 minutes of the fair was great . The Commercial building is always fun to look through and I seemed to get out of there without spending a dime. My Mother in -law I have to admit fell for the Sham Wow demo . It really was quite impressive...
The fair was packed with people of every size and ethnicity . We were trying to work our way through the crowd in search of Indian fry bread. JP lagging behind but doing a fairly good job of keeping us in his sights. There it was the fry bread stand and just when Mom asked how much a plate would cost I heard a quiet soft curse word behind me .... people gathered around and when I looked back JP was flat on the ground with blood dripping from his head.
The EMT's showed up quickly and we managed to sit JP on a nearby picnic table. I was so relieved to see that he was able to walk and didn't appear to have any broken bones. The EMT's were finished doing there job and offered to take all of us back to our car. JP was going to need stiches and we would need to get him to the ER to see a Dr. Just then my Mother in-law says hold it just a minute I came all the way to the fair to get some Indian fry bread and I am going to go get some before we go anywhere. A glance my way from each EMT was something I won't forget. I just got such a kick out of Mom and thought how classic. This is why we love her just the way she is ...we may die but I can guarentee one thing , she will NEVER let us go hungry.
I Love you Mom !
