You Said What?

If you read my previous post "Just Stop Right There" then you will be able to better understand where my story is going. Tonight David and I with our curiosity wanted to really see just how many scorpions that this complex is invested with . We stopped by Walgreen's and picked up a double pack of UV scorpion black lights . I was so excited to get home and start our hunt ( I know I am a big nerd) . I practically had to beg David and convinced him that we never get to spend any alone time together so this was going to be our little date. Now I realize that sounds so sad but I guess when you have two kids and hardly any available alone time a scorpion hunt sounds pretty romantic. David grabbed his infamous bug killer computer air duster and we each had our black lite and we started around the complex. I have to admit at times I did feel a little bit creepy with a flash lite in one hand shining it on peoples apartment walls and air duster in the other. People must have thought we were up to no good , it ends up we were doing them a favor. Anyways we did find scorpions, altogether we found 6 scorpions and were really only out there for maybe 15 minutes. We are in AZ and also it is the middle of summer so who knows ... is the apartment complex infested or is it just a given .
During our walk while feeling a little awkward with our flashlights shining on the wall we happen to run into a couple walking their dog. To lighten things up David says, " do you guys live here?"
The man says yes and David tells him that we are searching for scorpions and have already found several. The man goes on to say , " Yeah man, it is ridiculous I got zinged last week" . David and I smiled and agreed and began walking when he started in on how he is an Az native and we need to be very careful especially if we have young kids . The advice he then gave us is priceless and I can't stop laughing ! It was one of those moments when you walk away and think did he really just say what I think he said ? So here it is if you live in Az and have young kids and you are worried about protecting your child from scorpions then the best thing to do is ...

"Break a glass up into tiny shards and
place them in all the doorways of your home."

Our mouths dropped and David and I decided that we would go ahead and take a
chance on the scorpions.
