I just have to write about the conversation Stratton and I had this weekend . It is a easy concept that as an adult I often forget. Stratton reminded me of the quote, "It's the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary."
This weekend Stratton was talking on his play phone like he always does and I asked him who he was talking to . I said , " Stratton, is Santa Clause on the phone ? Tell him what you want for Christmas." Stratton got a big smile on his face and handed me the phone and said , " tell him mom , you tell him". I started my conversation with Santa and told him that Stratton wanted a small rock for Christmas and he could just pick one up outside our apartment on the way in. Stratton looked at me and whispered , " no a kitchen mom , a kitchen" . I then said , " no Stratton doesn't want a kitchen he just wants a small rock ". Again, Stratton looks confused and says , "a bike mom tell him I want a bike". I replied, " no he doesn't want a bike Santa , Stratton only wants a rock". I ended my conversation with a good bye and Merry Christmas and closed the phone.
Later that evening I was out shopping late for the black Friday sales. Barbara , David's Mom was so kind to watch Stratton throughout the night while I was waiting in long lines and fighting the crowds of people. I got a phone call about 2:00 a.m and Stratton had woken up sad and wanted to talk to me on the phone . I reassured him that I would be home soon and I was getting him a lot of fun toys for Christmas.
I finished my shopping and about 6:00 a.m I picked up Stratton from Grandma and Grandpa's . When he got in the car he saw a few bag's from Target and he said with a huge smile on his face. You got my rocks Mom , you got my rocks for me?
It melted my heart and thought my sweet little Stratton would whole heatedly be happy with a simple little rock for Christmas . Why do we grow out of this concept .... "It's the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary."

That's so cute. What a sweet boy, and BRAVE you for Black Friday shopping! Crazy!
Ah, kids are great aren't they? It's so good to be reminded of their innocence yet intelligence of the important things in this life. They really wouldn't know the difference if we just gave them a pile of rocks for Christmas.
