Emerson is at such a fun age ! He is at the age where he is into everything and curious about anything. Often he will do things that are way above his skill level and find himself in a little bit of a mess. Here I heard him crying in Stratton's room and so I hurried in to see what the matter was. He somehow had gotten him self stuck in the bottom of the book shelf. In this picture he had managed to get himself unstuck while like a "good mom" I ran to grab my camera. I should have helped him but I needed to get the picture so he ended up getting himself out and I still didn't get the picture. A couple minutes after he got stuck he managed to grab the heaviest book on the top and they all came toppling down on him .

Here I found him again he was sitting on top of the dishwasher door playing in the dishes. Emerson loves to climb and once again sees no danger in it.

It is interesting how children are born with such different dispositions . They are born into the same family but have 100% different personalities. Stratton is so cautious about life . Anything that looks even a tad bit scary or dangerous he will stay far away from. He doesn't like to be corrected or told no and it will bring him to tears, almost as if it breaks his heart. He is loud and when he was Emerson's age he acquired the name fog horn from Grandpa Ellsworth.
Emerson on the other hand loves danger and isn't scared of anything at all . He thrives off of doing things that he knows are off limits and smiles while he is doing it. When I tell him no he smiles and continues right on doing it. He hardly ever makes noise and when he does he is very quite and he hates loud noises. Clapping , yelling , banging any thing noisy his eyes will start to tear up . Come to think of it he started out this way too ... I remember in the NICU his nurses pointed this out early . During his stay the counter tops were being reconstructed . The construction men would come during the day and work . Even as a tiny baby the nurses said that he did not like the noise at all and they eventually had to move him to a different pod until the work was done.
Emerson is almost walking and this past week took 5 steps all by himself. If he forgets that he is not hanging on to anything he does great but when he realizes he is doing it all by himself he falls.

99% of the time Emerson is happy and if he is crying you know something must be very wrong.

This was on Tuesday when David left for school. Emerson absolutely adores David. David kissed us all goodbye and left but that wasn't good enough for Emerson he crawled to the window to see if Daddy was still out there.

Emerson we love you and are so blessed to have you in our family !
