There was a big ladder to climb to the top of the slide . I know Emerson can climb ladders and he does it all of the time . He knew exactly what he wanted and knew how to get it at this party . He wanted this pretty blonde girl to carry him up the ladder over and over again . It was hilarious to see him act as if he had no idea how to climb when he is in fact my little dare devil.
There was a hurricane machine at the party . You had to pay two dollars and then the door would unlock and you could step in and the wind would pick up to speeds of 75 mph. I thought it would be so funny to stick both of the boys in there and they really had no idea what it was except it looked cool and you had to pay to go inside. We slid our credit card and put both boys in ...as the wind picked up they started to panic and wanted out . Call us bad parents but both of us were just watching and laughing with the camera. I got a pretty good video of it and don't worry they didn't stay till 75 mph.
Ok so check out this thing a ma-jig ! I have no idea what it is called and I have actually never seen one like this before. It basically is a tall tower and it has 5 levels. The bottom level is a trampoline and then as you can see each subsequent level is like long rubber bands criss crossed with open holes and lots of flexibility . This makes it almost impossible to get to the top and takes a lot of determination. We showed Stratton and decided to let him try to climb to the top . Several others kids got on board and tried as well but gave up on the first or second level . Stratton on the other hand with a lot of struggle and determination made it to the very top not once but twice . Everyone at the party could not believe that he never gave up . It took him probably 20 minutes to get to the top each time but he did it . I had several people comment on how determined and resilient he was. Stratton thinks he can do anything and most of the time he can because he try's so hard till he can do it all by himself.
As he was struggling with the climb he would slip a little and then pull himself back up. I whispered to David that I hope Stratton will find that same determination and faith in Jesus Christ when trials arise in his life. I think the strong will and confidence he has will help him in so many ways as he grows , and faces inevitable struggles in a world that is spiraling down to the bottom level.
Stratton when life brings struggles and you slip a little , hold on tight and never let go keep climbing to the very top.
"If we have faith in Jesus Christ, the hardest as well as the easiest
times in life can be a blessing. In all conditions, we can choose the
right with the guidance of the Spirit. We have the gospel of Jesus Christ to shape and guide our lives if we choose it."
