A Seat With A View

On Wednesday last week David got home from work and told me to get everything ready because we were leaving on a family vacation on Friday . Friday was only two days away! David is so spontaneous and I absolutely love that about him . No planning involved we were just headed to California on an airplane in just a matter of two days. David and Stratton have been talking lately about airplanes and Stratton has been dying to fly and this was his opportunity.
Look how excited Stratton was to get on the airplane!
We flew to San Diego and the kids were amazing . It couldn't have worked out more perfect because on both flights I had an open seat right next to me so Emerson had all the room he wanted. Stratton really enjoyed the flight and he was old enough to appreciate the concept.

Emerson enjoyed climbing through the chairs like it was a tunnel . I love the look on his face he is workin' it like a true ladies man.
David got two adjoining rooms at our hotel so the boys had a room and we had our own room and that was awesome too. . . he is so prepared and it worked out perfect. Stratton spent a lot of time in our room because he claimed he was just too scared to stay by him self :)

We spent from Friday to Tuesday in San Diego and it was a fantastic time.
The first day we decided to take the kiddos to the beach . Just for your information the beach is not such a good nor fun idea for a three year old and 15 month old. Stratton kept telling us later that he will like the beach when he gets older. The waves were " too slippery " he says and made him slip and fall. David , Stratton and Emerson were enjoying building a dam that would hopefully keep the water out. The dam was not quite high enough when a huge wave came and knocked the dam , Stratton and Emerson over. Needless to say that was the end of our beaching experience. Both the boys were cold , wet , covered in sand and ready to go home.

After the kids got knocked over by the wave David was trying to convince them to come down and build a sand castle with him . They wanted nothing to do with it and wouldn't even try.
I love this picture of David digging in the sand all by himself .

The next day we went to Sea World and Stratton and Emerson both loved the shows and all of the animals.

The kids thought it was fantastic that they could hold a Star Fish.
The last day we found a Children's Museum in down town San Diego that was so Awesome . I couldn't believe how much stuff they had there for young kids to do . Basically every thing that you would never allow your children to do at home the kids were free to do at the museum. The kids loved it and never wanted to leave but by the end of several hours at the museum I was highly over stimulated :0

A big bucket filled with paint and the kids get to paint on the wall ...you can only imagine how happy this made Stratton.
Make your own bubble blowers out of pipe cleaners...David was an expert!

They had these chariots that Stratton absolutely loved. You would stand on them and then pump your the handle up and down in order to move. David and I decided we need to build one of these to play with at home.

Emerson loved most of all the big wall that you could cover in chalk . I thought as he was looking at me with a big smile on his face I am going to regret letting him do this when we get home . I don't think a 15 month old can distinguish the fact it is ok to write on walls at a museum but not at home.
The dad's at the table were way more into the blocks then their kiddos :)

We ran all of our last minute errands , ordered pizza in at the hotel and went to bed . We had to wake up at 2:30 the next morning to return our rental car and catch our flight. The vacation was so fun and well worth the exhaustion that I am still recovering from.

Wow what a trip! I can't believe you did all that with two days notice! Emerson is looking like such a big boy in these pictures, too. I'm glad you guys got to go out and have a good time.

Marisa! How fun for your family to get out to Cali! So happy you could get away (next time you should save up your air miles and Credit Card points for a trip to Albany ;-))! I think every city needs a cool museum like the one you went to... I love that Stratton is always so happy!
I love the new blog look!
