You've Had A Birthday

Shout Hooray
Stratton turned 3 years old! I can't believe that he is already 3 ,time flies . We celebrated his birthday with family and friends at a park and it turned out to be a lot of fun. Strat
ton finally is at the age where he understands parties and was constantly asking me when he was going to have a party for himself. We had been to so many birthday parties for other kids his age this yea
r and it was hard for him to watch them open presents and he didn't quite get the whole concept . Well now it was his time to shine and he had a birthday party just for him.

Stratton is such a good boy and I can't tell you how much he has blessed our lives . He comes up with the cutest and most clever things and continually impresses me. I love to play pretend with him even though his imagination far surpasses mine. I have never met a child more creative and imaginative as Stratton. Stratton takes such good care of Emerson and watches out for him. I love to watch the two of them interact and even though he does take toys from him often he always finds him another toy first and trades him . Best of all when I am not looki
ng he is giving him rides on his motorcycle, sharing his crayons and helping Emerson feel involved. I loved it a few weeks ago Stratton came to me and said that he was going to go wake Emerson up . I quickly told him that he was not going to wake him up and asked him why ? He said, " yes , because I want to play with him ...that's why" . I thought it was so cute and I loved how finally Emerson became a playmate rather then just a baby. Stratton is so good at always saying thank you and your welcome and will correct me often if I don't say it . I love Stratton desire to want to read to me all the time . He gets his scriptures out and pretends to read page after page . Grandpa and Grandma Ellsworth were at our house the other night and he was reading his scriptures to everyone at the table . After about five minutes of him coming up with random sentences about the Lamanites and ships and killing Grandpa Ellsworth said you must read really well if you can read upside down :) .
Stratton's desire to want to learn and be independent always impresses me . He wants to go to school so bad and so I told him that he needs to learn his letters and how to write his name . So every day he reminds me that we need to do his letters so he can go to school .
Just yesterday we were driving on the free way and Stratton yells out Mom look it's an I pod
car . I was confused and asked where ? Again he repeated right in front of us it's an I pod car . I told him that I didn't see it and then asked him what makes an I pod car ? He said after he sighed a long sigh as if I was dumb or something , " Look it has an apple on it" . Then I realized how observant he was he often saw the apple on back of our I pod and so he correlated the two when he saw the apple sticker on back of the car.

Here are a few pictures from his Birthday Party.
Stratton's first gift was a bike helmet and when he opened he we asked him why he would need a helmet if he doesn't have a bike . He was thinking about it for a while and then ...
David wheeled his bike right behind him and he couldn't have been more happy. It was priceless and a dream come true for him . He had been asking for a blue bike for at least 9 months and never once changed his mind. Dale enjoying a cupcake
Royce , notice his red cheeks ! I didn't take into consideration the 100 degree weather outside.
I don't think the kids minded and they still had a lot of fun . Royce is Heidi's little boy . Heidi was my best friend in high school and Royce and Stratton are the same age.
Adaira was walking on this wall during the party so I had to capture her cuteness
Thank you everyone for coming and celebrating Stratton's 3rd birthday with us .
Stratton we love you so much and are very thankful to have you in our family!
